Roadside America

A RIDE ALONG THE LINCOLN HIGHWAY - A new documentary by one of my favorite documentary makers, Rick Sebak! Check out all the cool roadside stuff Rick and his crew see and discover along the way - from California to New York! To be broadcast on your local PBS television station on October 29th. Check your local listings for times in your area. Check out Rick's BLOG!

Hwy 80HI-WAY 80 YARD SALE - Every 3rd weekend in October. Organized to promote and increase tourism trade and traffic along historic US 80, the first coast-to-coast, all-weather highway in America, the 2,400 mile route begins in Savannah, Ga., makes its way through East Texas and concludes in San Diego, California. The three-state event will cover a 392 mile route – one of the nation’s longest –from Mesquite, TX through Louisiana to Jackson, Mississippi.

ROADFOOD - Great regional meals along highways, in small towns and in city neighborhoods. Sleeves-up food made by cooks, bakers, pitmasters, and sandwich-makers who are America’s culinary folk artists. Roadfood is almost always informal and inexpensive; and the best Roadfood restaurants are colorful places enjoyed by locals (and savvy travelers) for their character as well as their menu.

ROADSIDE ONLINE - Diners!, Gas, Food, Lodging! Tons of cool stuff and commentary about the state of Roadside America! Subscribe to their magazine - you won't be disappointed!

DEL PARKER'S PARKEROSA - This site has it all! I'm not quite sure what all means because I haven't seen it ALL yet! Velvet paintings! Paint by number! And more! Click around this place and try out a "Virtual Rental"! And absolutely the best "Site Map" I've ever seen!

ROADSIDE ARCHITECTURE - My kind of stuff! Motels and Restaurants and Drive-Ins and Deco and Gas Stations and (of course) Postcards and much more!
